Mr. LeRoy Carter of Willingboro, NJ, and formerly of Hahira, GA, passed this life on Thursday April 21, 2011 at Lourdes Hospital in Willingboro, NJ. He was born November 29, 1921 to the late Gainus Carter and the late Maggie Miller Carter. To this union, eight children were born. Siblings preceded him in death are: Calvin Carter Sr., Julius Carter, Ellis Carter, Tempie Carter Johnson, Elizabeth Carter, Argulee Carter and Ollie Mae Carter.
Mr. Carter worked for the federal government for 32 years as a civil service logistic specialist. He had the opportunity to travel the world. Asia and the Middle East are two places he especially liked. He resided for over fifteen years in South Korea where he met the love of his life, Jung Sook, his loving wife of fifty-two years.
Mr. Carter leaves to lament his passing, a devoted wife, Jung S. Carter; Six sons: John Carter of Valdosta, GA, Gainus Carter of Willingboro, NJ, Ellis Carter (Janette) of Fairless Hills, PA, Lawrence Carter of Pennsauken, NJ, Anthony Carter(Tracy) of Jacksonville, FL, Maurice Carter
(Andrea) of Orlando, FL; One daughter, Janet Carter, of New Carrollton, MD. Mr. Carter was a devoted grandfather to Pierre, Luke, Taylor, Riley and Eunhea. He was a proud great grand- father to Aaliyah Carter. Other family members cherishing his memories are Missionary Maggie Mae Carter, sister-in-law of Hahira, GA, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at 1:00 pm from the sanctuary of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Hahira, GA. Dr. Norman Edwards, Pastor, will officiate and burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. The funeral procession will depart from the home of Mr. & Mrs. Marcellous Carter, 5451 Union Road, Hahira, GA, at 12:30 pm. The repast will be in the dining hall at Mt. Olive Baptist Church immediately after the committal service.
Public visitation will be on Friday April 29th, from 10 am to 9 pm at Godfrey Funeral Home.
