Leroy Young

Leroy Young was born August 1, 1947, in Naylor, GA, to the late Elmore and Dellis Young.

Leroy Young was a very devoted, loving, hardworking, intelligent and caring man. Well known for his greatness, he was a mentor and father figure to a lot of his family and friends. As described by his family, he was a man who loved deeply, worked hard to provide for his family, showed himself friendly through kindness and compassion and left a life-lasting impression on all who knew him. He was an awesome father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Leroy was a man of great sacrifice and self-denial. He served his country and was an honorable veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Reames and Son Construction Company after 25 years of faithful employment. In addition, he served the congregation of St. Mark and drove the church bus for over 20 years.

On Wednesday, December 18, 2019, the Lord declared, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant...enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister: Annie Frances Young and his brothers: Eddie Young, Sr., Ozell Young, Sr., Thomas Young and Freddie Young.

Leroy Young leaves his legacy of love and integrity to his children: Janice Young of Lake Park, GA, Craig Young of Valdosta, GA and Flora Reynolds of Valdosta, GA; five sisters: Mary Mitchell of Valdosta, GA, Dorothy Burgman and Valdosta, GA, Margaret Belcher of Lakeland, GA, and Flora Mae Homer of Tampa, FL; a special devoted friend: Annie Strickland; a god-daughter: Zanobia Shephard; his six grandchildren: Jailah Young, Joshua Young, Shakira Young, Amber Young, David Roberts, Jr., and Lilliana Jackson; two great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; and a host of family and friends.

The Celebration of Life for the late Mr. Leroy Young will be Saturday, December 28, 2019, 2:00 p.m., St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, 4541 St. Marks Church Road, Naylor, GA.

Dr. John Manning is the Senior Pastor and will officiate.

Public viewing, Friday, December 27, 2019, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Godfrey Funeral Home.

Interment, Harrington Rest Cemetery, Naylor, GA.
