Lethia Mae Moore Rome answered the call unto eternal rest Monday, August 17, 2015 because she knew God only chooses the best to enter into His gates.
Mrs. Rome was born March 21, 1936, to the late Herman “Blue” Moore and the late Charlie Mae Moore Woods. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: Ponell Rome; one brother: Leroy Woods; and her grandparents: Lucinda Mansfield and Lula Moore.
Lethia was a faithful member and servant of Union Cathedral for over 45years where she sung in the choir, attended Sunday School and a faithful member of the kitchen ministry—she enjoyed giving back.
Lethia served as President of America’s Legion Auxiliary 503 and District 12 President and 1st Vice President for many years. As a member of the Amvets Auxiliary Post 607, she served as chaplain and VA Representative. These service organizations allowed her to serve all veterans in the hospital, nursing home and other local agencies. She also retired from Levi Strauss & Co. and she worked providing love and support to families as a domestic housekeeper until her health failed.
Lethia leaves to cherish her life and memories to a son: Otis Moore (Monica) of Albany, GA; a daughter: Sandra Kier (Curtis) of Valdosta, GA; five grandchildren: Tumika Rucker (Tracy) of Logansville, GA, Stephen Moore (Kathy) of Columbus, GA, Fallon Medley of Chicago, IL, Ellis Moore and Elisha Moore of Albany, GA: two great-grandchildren: Devyn and Cameryn Rucker; one brother: Earnest Woods, Jr. of Valdosta, GA; two sisters: Barbara Alexander (Charlie) of Tampa, FL and Betty J. Smith of Valdosta, GA; sisters and brothers in-law: Roberta Washington (Johnny), Jewel Morgan (Rudine), Geraldine Wiggs, Emma Lee Rome, and Mary Rome; special friends: Gloria Stewart, Carolyn Burgman, Annie Joiner and Ethel Rilee (thank you for being there when needed); and a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will also cherish her kindness and love for them all. She worked hard and cared for others. These things made her who she was, a loving person. Rest in Peace.
The celebration of life for the late Mrs. Lethia Mae Rome will be held Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 4:00pm from the sanctuary of Union Cathedral.
Bishop Wade S. McCrae is the Senior Pastor.
