On May 21, 1953, while residing in Valdosta, GA, the late Clarence and Aurelia Reed was blessed with a son. They chose to name him, Lewis Maverick Reed.
Lewis was educated in the Lowndes County School System and was a proud member of the Lowndes High graduating Class of 1972. This young man who when he was a child, spoke as a child, became a man and put away childish things. He was a man of great humility and excellence and a leading example for all men to follow. Though a man of few words, when he did speak, it would do you well to listen.
Lewis was a very disciplined man who worked hard to provide for his family. His employment career included over 45 years of dedicated and faithful service while employed at Langdale Products as a welder until his retirement. Lewis enjoyed the simple things in life. When not working or spending time with his family or his wife whom he loved dearly, he could be found in his recliner watching his favorite westerns.
Recognizing the importance of having Christ in his life, he became a member of Providence Baptist Church in Hahira, GA.
On Monday, May 20, while doing what he did best, overseeing the affairs of his home, Lewis was granted eternal rest.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son: Antonio Reed.
He leaves to celebrate his life, a loving and devoted wife of 26 years, Diane Reed of Valdosta, GA; his four children: Kilia Rowe (Jackie) of Valdosta, GA, Aurelia McKinnon of Tampa, FL, Lewis Reed, Jr, of Tampa, FL and Darryl Roberson (Samantha) of Jacksonville, NC; four sisters: Thura Mack, Phyllis Reed, Mercerlita Reed and Erma Jean Hutchinson (Albert); his three brothers: Glen Reed (Vickey), Alfred Reed and Bruce Reed (Comeka); two aunts: Velma Matchett and Sally Brinkley (Tom); special friends: Tommy Bryant, Curtis Williams and Roy Verdell; twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; six sisters-in-law: one brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
