Louise “Madear” Wright, the daughter of the late Allen and Ethel James, was born November 27, 1924 in Statenville, GA.
She departed this life on Tuesday, March 13, 2012.
During early childhood, her family relocated to Valdosta, where she received her formal education.
She married the love of her life, Mannie C. Wright, on May 6, 1946. To this union were three children.
At an early age, she confessed Christ and joined St. James Missionary Baptist Church. She was a devoted member, serving on many auxiliaries faithfully until her health failed.
Mrs. Wright worked in food service for many years to include: Valdosta Public Schools, Officers Club at MAFB, and Best Western King of the Road, thus retiring March 1990 from VSU as supervisor of food service.
Let’s not forget all the beautiful garments sewn by the hand of Mrs.Wright; worn by many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, one son: Willie L. Wright, eight brothers and four sisters.
She leaves to celebrate her life and continue her legacy two daughters: Eula Jean Cox, Orlanda,FL and Pearl Davis (Earl), Hampton, GA; one daughter in-law: Elizabeth Wright, Brunswick, GA; four sisters: Catherine Bush, Orange, NJ, Bernice Hawkins, Plainfield, NJ, Ruby Winbush, Orlanda, FL and Betty Graham, Valdosta, GA; one sister in-law: Rebecca James, Valdosta, GA; nine grandchildren: Willie Jr., Marlon, Joseph, Daryl, Darice, Michael, Michelle, JoRonda and Gloria; fourteen great-grandchildren; one god-daughter: Renee Vinson, Hahira, GA; one god-son: Douglas Marshall, Stone Mountain, GA; devoted adopted daughters: Mary Ann Nelson and Bessie Brown Evans of Valdosta, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The homegoing celebration for Mrs. Louise J. Wright will be held Saturday, March 17,2012 at 11:00am from the sanctuary of St. James Missionary Baptist Church.
Rev. T. J. Haynes will officiate.
Interment will follow at the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
