Mrs. Maggie Butler Woods

December 30, 1955 — March 1, 2015

Maggie Pearl Butler Woods was born to the late Mother Erma Tooley Butler and the late Mr. Jesse James Phillips, December 30, 1955 in Valdosta, GA.

She was educated in the Valdosta City School System and was a proud member of the Valdosta High Graduating Class of 1974.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was a life-long member of Greater Mt. Carmel H.O.G.S.I.C. Church.

Maggie, fondly called “Mo-Gal” will be greatly missed by all who knew her. There was guaranteed laughter and joy when “Mo-Gal” entered the room. She was the life of the party. She never met a stranger and was always willing to help those in need. To her family, she was DIVA SUPREME—Sexy, Sassy, and Classy. Loyal and faithful to the end.

On March 1, 2015, the Lord gently closed her eyelids and softly whispered, “Peace be thine”.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her step-father: Hosea Butler, Sr.; her grandparents: Mr. H.T. Tooley, Mammie Tooley and Shed Phillips; her husband: Alexander Woods, Jr.; and one daughter: Regina Butler.

Maggie leaves her legacy of love and memories to her two beautiful children: Keyuna Bynes and Alexander Woods III; Six grandchildren: La Quesha, Tomia, Dre Qjuan, Dre Quan, Shekeria, and Qua Deja; five sisters: Norma Jean Barry (Keith), Evang. Barbara Bell (Bobby), Ruby Fleming (John), Linda Payton (Anthony), and Jessie Mae Slaughter; two brothers: Elder Hosea Butler, Jr. (Minister Vicki) and John Phillips (Angela); aunts: Mary Sherman, Hattie Wade, Cloria Tooley, Vermatene Moore, Jacqueline Walker, Janice Brady (Clinton), Membalene Scott (Melvin), and Gussie Butler; uncles: Eddie Tooley, Clifford Tooley, Bishop John Tooley (Betty) and Deacon Freddie Tooley (Hilda); devoted cousins: Linda Battles, Zelda Lane, James Lane, and Ferris Tooley; two sisters-in-law: Linda Kier and Sandra Moore; one brother-in-law: James Woods; one god-daughter: Kimberly Green; special friends: Cathy Folsom, Mary Berrian, Debra Golden, Faye Jenkins, Ouida Jones, Barbara Austin, Shirley Wooten, her “Little Miami Neighborhood Family”; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

The celebration of life for the late Mrs. Maggie Butler Woods will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 1:00pm from the sanctuary of Mt. Carmel House of God in Christ Church.

Elder David Northcutt will officiate.
