Margaret Brown Kelley was born October 10, 1942, to the late KC Brown, Sr. and the late Rev. Edna Brown Holder.
She was educated in the Lowndes County School System and was a proud member of Pinevale High graduating Class of 1961.
After graduating from Pinevale High, Margaret chose to begin her new chapter in life in New Brunswick, NJ. While there, she met, fell in love and married Milton Kelley in 1977. To this union, three beautiful children were added: Derrick, Kevin and Debra. Margaret was a very devoted wife and a loving mother. Along with her husband, Margaret built a wonderful life in New Jersey.
Being a suitable helpmate to her husband, Margaret was gainfully employed for over 35 years with Bristol-Myers Squibb until her retirement. Margaret and Milton returned to Valdosta to enjoy their retirement. Margaret enjoyed gardening, shopping, cooking, fishing and traveling the world with her husband, Milton.
On what would be her last birthday to celebrate with her family, Thursday, October 10, Margaret was given the gift of eternal rest.
In addition to her parents, the late KC Brown, Sr. and Edna Brown Holder, she is preceded in death by one stepson: Milton Carl Kelley.
Margaret leaves to celebrate her life and to cherish precious memories to her husband of more than 50 years, Milton Kelley; six children: Derrick and Kevin Kelley of Somerset, NJ, Debra Kelley-Whitfield (Michael) of Greenville, NC, Beverly Kelley-Jeter of South River, NJ, Anthony and Arletha Kelley of South River, NJ; three sisters: Rose White, Janice Wilkerson and Betty McNeil, all of Lake Placid, FL; four brothers: Kenneth Brown (Carolyn) of Valdosta, GA, Dougles Brown (Cynthia), Raymond Brown (Gayle) and Cornelius Walker, all of Lake Placid, FL; two sisters-in-law: Deloris Banks and Mary Williams; one brother-in-law: Joe W. Kelley; one grandson: Brandon Kelley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
The Celebration of Life for the late Mrs. Margaret Brown Kelley will be Sunday, October 20, 2019, 3:00 p.m., Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church.
Dr. William C. Morgan is the Sr. Pastor and will officiate.
Public viewing, Saturday, October 19, 2019, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Godfrey Funeral Home.
Interment, Pallbearers Cemetery.
