Margie Reweda Montgomery was born in Valdosta, GA on October 5, 1950 in Valdosta, GA, to Connie Duncan Montgomery and the late Walter Lee Montgomery.
She received her education in Lowndes County, GA and was a graduate of Westside High School. Margie furthered her education at Savannah State College in Savannah, GA where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
Margie relocated to Jacksonville, FL and resided there for 18 years. She was a faithful member of Lewis Memorial AME Church. She later moved to Atlanta, GA where she completed 22 years of dedicated service with the Internal Revenue Service and retired on February 26, 2013. Margie was a faithful member of the Solid Rock AME Zion Church, where she faithfully served on the Women’s Missionary Society.
Margie lived her life for her children, grandchildren and family. She was a passionate lover of all sports and loved to spend her past time shopping and catching a good sale.
The Lord gently called Margie unto eternal rest, Friday, October 4, 2013.
She is preceded in death by her loving father: Walter “Bo” Montgomery; Maternal grandparents: Ruben and Mattie Duncan; and her Paternal grandparents: Joe and Viola Montgomery.
Margie leaves to cherish her memories: loving and caring children: Nikita Wynn and Demario Montgomery of Ellenwood, GA; loving mother: Connie Montgomery of Valdosta, GA; siblings: Willie C. Montgomery (Linda) of Valdosta, GA, Darrell Montgomery of Maplewood, MO, Arden Montgomery (Tammie) of Ellenwood, GA, and Debra Montgomery of Valdosta, GA; grandchildren: Jasmine Moore and Terrence Williams; aunts: Ruby Lewis (Alfonzo) and Lillie Montgomery; special nieces and nephews: Felicia West (Tristram), Willie C. Montgomery, Jr. (Tamara), Christopher Stokes and Michael Montgomery; special aunt and caregiver: Christine Ceasar; long time dear friends: Vera Butler (Aaron), Shirley Stafford and Mary Ann Nelson; godchildren: Eric Moore (Latoya) and Natasha Kirksey, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, IRS co-workers and her Solid Rock AME Zion Church family.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 12, 2013, at 1 p.m., from the sanctuary of Morning Star Baptist Church, 1051 Howell Road, Valdosta.
Dr. Willie C. Morgan is pastor and Bishop Willie Roberson, Sr., will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dasher Cemetery.
Public viewing will be held Friday, October 12, 2013 at Godfrey Funeral Home.
