Mother Mary Bell Asbelle, fondly known as “Willie Mae”, age 84, of Valdosta was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at her place of residence.
She was born on May 2, 1927, to the late James and Pearl Asbelle in Macon, Georgia.
Mary was a seamstress, cook and cosmetologist. She spent her life loving and caring for others and sharing her talents with the community.
Mary was an active member of Union Cathedral where she sang in the Senior Choir.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters: Mary Helen Baker Cooper Kelly and Rudale Baker.
Mary’s surviving family include: two daughters: Mary Lee Baker and Annie Lois Baker Bethay of Valdosta, GA; three sons: Johnny Mack Binder, Willie James Lawery of Valdosta, GA and Johnny Mack “Bay” Lawery, Jr. (Mary Ann) of Perry, FL; one sister: Lela Mae Porter of Brunswick, GA; a host of special nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great - grandchildren and wonderful friends to carry on her memory.
Funeral services for Mother Mary Bell Asbelle will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 12 noon from the sanctuary of Union Catheral,1050 E. Hill Avenue, Valdosta. Bishop Wade S. McCrae will officiate and interment will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
