Mrs. Mary Burnside was born to the late Walter Henry Hodge, Sr. and the late Catherine Hodge, September 14, 1942 in Valdosta, GA.
She made her life ending transition Tuesday, March 5, 2013 in Brandon, FL.
Mary was a proud member of the 1960 graduate class of Pinevale High School and was a very active alumni. She was employed with the Dade County Public Schools and retired in year 2008.
She accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age and served the Carol City Church of Christ in Miami, FL until relocating to Tampa, FL and began to worship and serve the Belmont Height Church of Christ.
Mary was a very giving and loving person. She had a contagious laugh and a smile that would light up a room. Though mother of one biological daughter, she was a mother to all in her family. She loved and cherished her family so much and made everyone feel as though they were her favorite. Her love for the Lord and people would allow her to meet and touch many throughout her life.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother: Sidney Hodge and three uncles: Alfonso Harrison, Leondes Jackson and Frank Jackson.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one devoted daughter: Marilynn Harvey (Michael), Tampa, FL; three grandchildren: Michael Harvey, Jr., Malcolm Harvey and Makayla Harvey; three sisters: Anita Orr (Nathan) and Patricia Hodge of Valdosta, GA and Ellen Ward (Craig) of Atlanta, GA; six brothers: Walter Hodge, Jr. and Allen Hodge of Valdosta, GA, Leon Hodge, Larry Hodge (Catherine) and Eugene Hodge (Denise) of Atlanta, GA and Herbert Hodge (Janice) of North Carolina; a host of aunts and uncles: Ardie Pearson (Richard) of Valdosta, GA; Bernice Burley (John) of Miami, FL, Pauline Harrison and Rose Jackson of Valdosta, GA and Rose Jackson of Pompano, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The homegoing celebration for the late Mrs. Mary Burnside will be held Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 1:00pm from the sanctuary of River Street Church of Christ.
Bro. Eric Cureton is the minister.
Bro. Donald Jackson, Sr. will officiate.
Burial will follow at the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
