Mrs. Mary Allen Dennis

May 16, 1921 — November 11, 2014

“Resting where no shadows fall, in peaceful sleep she awaits us all; God will link the broken chain, when one by one we meet again.”

Mary Allen Dennis was born May 16, 1921, in Pineview, Georgia to the late James and Cora Allen.

Her ways were pleasing, her actions kind, a willing hand, anxious to please, not one to offend, she was a loving person and a faithful friend. She opened her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue was the law of kindness. Her charming ways and smiling face are a pleasure to recall, she had kind words for everyone and was loved by all.

One of God’s greatest gift is a mother. There was love in her touch and sunshine in her smile. There was love in everything she did for her children that made life worthwhile. She adored and greatly loved her daughter and grandchildren. Mary had an understanding heart and an intelligent mind, she will be truly missed, she was one of a kind. Always willing to help others, when she herself needed rest, she was the kindest of all mothers, now she’s among the Heavenly blest.

Mary accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mattie Richland MBC in Pineview, Georgia where she served faithfully. She later moved to Valdosta and joined St. James MBC.

On Tuesday, November 11, 2014, God looked around his garden and found an empty place, he then looked down upon the earth and saw Mary’s sweet face. He put his arms around her and lifted her to rest then closed her weary eyes and whispered, “Peace be thine”.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: Dave Dennis; three sisters: Eula Harden, Ruthie Mae Brown and Deotha Penn; eight brothers: Charlie Allen, Stewart Allen, Jimmy Allen, Faris Allen, Robert Allen, Willie Allen, Henry Allen and Fletcher Allen; and one great-great-grandchild.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter: Vivian Peeler of Valdosta, GA; seven grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren; adopted sister: Mother Eula Lee Arnold; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The celebration of life for the late Mrs. Mary Allen Dennis will be held Monday, November 17, 2014 at 1:00pm from the sanctuary of St. James Missionary Baptist Church.

Rev. T.J. Haynes will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Pallbearers Cemetery.
