Mrs. Mary C. Wright

Mary Carter Wright was born on October 10, 1946, in Valdosta, GA, to the late Earl and Hattie Carter. She departed this life on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 7:45 a.m.

She was educated in the Valdosta City School System and was a proud member of the 1964 graduating class from Pinevale High School, Valdosta, GA. Mary furthered her education at Durham Business College, Durham, NC. After graduation, she relocated to the Washington, District of Columbia metropolitan area.

She was employed with the Federal City College, currently known as the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) for forty one years. During her forty one-year employment tenure, she served as a secretary and/or administrative assistant to numerous presidents at UDC. She served as a loyal Board member on the D.C Teachers’ Credit Union.

Mary joined Faith Temple No.2 Church under the leadership of Bishop L.N. Forbes. She was a faithful member until her illness. She served on the Scholarship ministry.

She was joined in holy matrimony to Bennie Wright and to that union three adorable children were raised.

Mary leaves to cherish her loving memories: one daughter; Shantina Adams of Valdosta, GA, two sons: Kevin (Melissa) White and Daunte’ Wright of Mitcheville, MD; one brother; George Carter (Shirley Carter) Charleston, SC; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The Celebration of Life for the late Mrs. Mary C. Wright will be held Saturday, August 19, at 11:00am from the sanctuary of Church at Pine Hill.

Pastor Alex Bunion is the pastor and will officiate.

Interment will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens.

Public Viewing will be held Friday, August 18, from 10:00am - 8:00pm at Godfrey Funeral Home.
