Maurice Deshawn Pinkney, Sr

Maurice Deshawn Pinkney, Sr. was born May 11, 1967, in Adel, GA, to Martha Johnson and the late Fred Keeley.

Maurice received his education in the Valdosta City School System and was a proud graduate of Valdosta High School. He furthered his education at Albany State College in Albany, GA. To ensure that he was a good provider for his family he learned the skills necessary to become a electrician and was for over eighteen years.

Believing that marriage was intended to be a lifelong commitment he vowed to love his wife, Cheryl, until death parted them. Indeed he was the love of her life. Her endless love.

Maurice was a man who loved deeply, worked hard to provide for his family and showed himself friendly. He was a peaceful soul with a magnificent heart filled with kindness, grace and goodness.

On Sunday, November 19, 2017, Maurice was granted eternal rest.

In addition to his father, Fred Keeley, he is preceded in death by one sister: Jeannette L. Pinkney and one brother: Antonio Pinkney, Sr.

Maurice leaves to cherish his memories, his wife whom he loved and adored: Cheryl Annette Pinkney of Valdosta, GA; eight children: Maurice Pinkney, Jr., Randy Pinkney, Martavius Pinkney and Mieshia Pinkney, all of Texas, Shaniqua Butler of Jacksonville, FL, Brittany Branham (Tony), Courtney Lissimore and Tiffany Lissimore, all of Valdosta, GA; his mother: Martha Johnson; stepmother: Helen Kelsaw; stepfather: Bobby Denegall; one sister: Netoshia Denegall of Valdosta, GA; five brothers: Jody Keeley (Tarra), Fredrick Keeley (LaTysha), William M. Young Keeley, Darren Kelsaw (Joyce), Joseph Young, and David Sutton, all of Valdosta, GA; one special friend: Earl Williams; twenty one grandchildren; five sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving family and friends.

The Celebration of Life for the late Mr. Maurice Pinkney will be Saturday, December 02, 2017, 2:00 P.M., at the chapel of Godfrey Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in the Pallbearers Cemetery.

Public viewing will be Friday, December 01, 2017, 10:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., at Godfrey Funeral Home.
