Candika Nicole Bennett Reed was born June 18, 1980 in Moultrie, GA to Shirley West and the late Ulysses Bennett.
She was educated in the Colquitt County School System and was a proud member of the 1998 graduating class of Colquitt County High School. Candika was employed by South Georgia Medical Center.
Her presence was a present, not only to her family and friends, but to all who came in contact with her. She was unique and one of a kind. In her presence was an inviting atmosphere of warmth and love. She was a woman of worth and beauty inside and out. Minister Candika possessed a inner beauty that only comes from Christ.
As printed in I Peter, Chapter 2, Minister Candika was a lively stone who was chosen by God that she would show forth the praises of him who called her out of darkness into his marvelous light. She served God with all of her heart, mind, and soul. She was a member of Crossing Jordan Baptist Church where she served as a member of the Crossing Jordan Praise Team and Mass Choir.
On Monday, May 15, 2017, no farewell words were spoken and there was no time to say good-bye; God gently put His arms around her and whispered, “Peace be thine”.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her father-in-law: Robbie Brown, whom she lovingly called, “Dad”.
Minister Candika leaves to mourn yet cherished precious memories to her husband: Tyshon Reed, Sr. of Valdosta, GA; her two children whom she loved and adored: Madicyn Robinson and Tyshon Reed, Jr., both of Valdosta, GA; two sisters: Sabrina Lawton and Rosalind Shamea Green, both of Moultrie, GA; three brothers: Ulysses Bennett II of Moultrie, GA, Tharius L. Collier (Faith) of Jacksonville, FL Nicholas C. West (Heather) of Moultrie, GA; her grandparents: Robert and Jessie Collier of Moultrie, GA; her mother-in-law: Selina Brown of Moultrie, GA; her three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; her Crossing Jordan Baptist Church family; and a loving host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
