Mrs. Minnie Mae Hill

January 18, 1948 — December 1, 2015

Minnie Mae Hill was born January 18, 1948 in Sycamore, GA, to Mrs. Lula Mae Jordan and the late Mr. Jimmy Frank Sparrow.

Minnie had the heart of a servant: tender, faithful and true. She was a woman of patience showing self-control. She was kind—always giving attention, appreciation and encouragement to all who knew her. She made everyone around her feel important. Minnie was a selfless woman who did not mind meeting the needs of others. She loved out of a pure heart, always setting aside her own wants and needs to seek the greatest good for her family.
Recognizing that job satisfaction and happiness does not always come easily, she remained employed with Valdosta State University for over 30 years until retirement with a positive attitude and passion to be the best employee she could be.

On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, Minnie closed her eyes with the assurance, “For both if we live, we live to Jehovah, and if we die, we die to Jehovah. Therefore both if we live and if we die, we belong to Jehovah.” Romans 14:8

In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her husband: James Anderson Hill, Sr. and a daughter: Jennifer Hill.

Minnie leaves to cherish her memories one daughter: Malissa Matthews (Malcolm) of Valdosta, GA; three sons: James A. Hill, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Kenneth B. Hill (Angeline) of Atlanta, GA, and Keith L. Hill (Patrice) of Savannah, GA; her mother: Lula Mae Jordan of Valdosta, GA; three sisters: Diane T. Neal (Robert) of Lake Park, GA, Alma Linder (Shelly) of Hinesville, GA and Claudia Turner of Moultrie, GA; three brothers: Freddie Sparrow (Geneva) of Winter Haven, MS, and Willie Frank Sparrow of Miami, FL and Robert Turner of Moultrie, GA; two aunts: Gloria Durden of Valdosta, GA and Esther Marable of New Port News, VA; two special brothers-in-law: Albert Lewis Hill and John Lee Gray; Edward and Rosemary Carter whom she loved dearly; a host of grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
