Mother Hannah Effie Jones

June 3, 1931 — January 23, 2020

Valdosta

Hannah Effie Woods Jones was born June 3, 1931 in Dothan, Alabama to the late Calvin and Effie Woods.

When Hannah became of an age of maturity, she met and married the love of her life, Nathaniel Frances Jones, Sr. and was blessed with nine children. She was a woman of strength and endurance. She loved her family and always put their needs before her own. If it was in her powers to help someone, she would do it with all her might.

Realizing the need for a Savior, Hannah accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a member of the Mt. Carmel Holiness Church HOGSIC in Valdosta, Georgia. She was a faithful member and served as an usher and a Mother in the church until her health failed.

On Thursday, January 23rd, Hannah received her call to a place of rest from her earthly journey and labor.

In addition to her parents, Calvin and Effie Jones, Mother Jones is preceded in death by her husband: Nathaniel Frances Jones, Sr.; five children: Nathaniel Jones, Jr., Carol Jones, James Jones, Ernie Matchett, and Linda Mathis; and one aunt: Ethel Woods.

Mother Jones leaves cherished memories to her four children: Ronnie Matchett, Effie Williams (Walter), Sylvester Matchett, and Clotele Copper (Bernard); one brother: Junior Dixon; twenty-one grandchildren; one special grandchild and care taker who she adored: Vaneshia Howell; and an additional host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and her Mt. Carmel Church Family.
