Mother Johnnie Mae Lewis was born April 11, 1923 in Lowndes County, GA, to the late John and Stella Thompson.
Mother Johnnie Mae Lewis had a inner beauty that could only come from Christ. She was a quiet spirit who loved people and was very giving. She created an inviting atmosphere of warmth and love for all those around her. With a clear understanding that her body was temple of the Holy Ghost, she took care of her body by exercising as often as she could.
As a licensed nurse, she worked willing with her hands and use hospitality to minister to those around her. As a wife, she served her husband and did him good all the days of his life. As a mother, she taught her children the ways of the Lord and nurtured them with the love of Christ, disciplined them with care and wisdom and trained them in the way they should go.
As a believer, on Monday, September 14, 2015, God looked around His garden and He found an empty place; He then looked down upon the earth and saw Mother Johnnie Mae Lewis precious face. He put His arms around her and lifted her to rest; so He closed her weary eyelids and whispered, “Peace be thine”.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband whom she love dearly: Rev. Daniel H. Lewis and a daughter: Danielle Fridge.
Mother Johnnie Mae Lewis leaves to cherish precious memories to her four children: Ella Lewis, Johnnie Mack Lewis (Elaine), Tereatha Copeland (George), and Archie Lewis (Sharon) all of Valdosta, Georgia; one brother: Willie James Homer (Martha); eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; her Word of Oasis family; and a host of family and friends.
The celebration of life for the late Mother Johnnie Mae Lewis will be held Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 11:00am from the sanctuary of Word of Oasis.
Bishop Henry R. Williams will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Troupeville Cemetery.
