Pearlie Mae Pittman-Wells was born June 11, 1928 to the late Oscar and Pearlie Pittman in Blounts Town, FL. She attended Public Schools in Lowndes County, studying the field of General Education.
Pearlie Wells moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL in 1957. Her career was in the Culinary Field. She supervised the Bakery and Salad Department of Creighton’s Restaurant from 1970-1983. She was then hired by the Broward County School Board where she worked as a baker until her retirement in 1993.
Pearlie gave her life to Christ in 1978. She became a member of Fire Baptism and Truth II under the leadership of Elder Willie Morman, and Prophetess Grace Norman. In this ministry, she was a faithful devotional leader with a powerful anointed voice. She was instrumental in teaching members how to play the drums.
She became a Missionary always delivering a powerful message. She was a mother of the church, later ordained as District Mother. She would always say “Count it all joy.” As a Mother of the church she encouraged members with the Word of God. She prayed hard and sincere. She was ordained as an Evangelist in 2008.
Mother Wells was the founder of the singing group, “Mother Wells and Company” from 1993-2005. Her most requested song for the group was “Saints Hold On” led by Mother Wells.
Mother Wells moved to Valdosta, GA in 2005. There she joined United in Christ People Holiness Church under the teaching of Bishop Cessor Houston, Sr. and First Lady Retta Houston. She held the position as Mother of the Church, passing along her wisdom and love to everyone. When she became unable to attend her services, she praised God in her home. With her congregation coming to praise God with her, Mother Wells led by example, until the Lord called her home on December 1, 2012.
Her memories will be forever cherished by those she left behind: a Sister: Lillie Montgomery; Daughters: Wilma Wright, Sonja Jones (Ronald), Pattie McCoy, Pamela Fredrick (William), and Debbie Sanders; Sixteen Grand-children; Twenty seven great-grandchildren; loving god-children and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Mother Wells is at rest now joining her mother, father, four sisters, two brothers, one daughter and granddaughter. Ann, Cecil, Mattie, Nora, James, Arthur, Ralph, Pearlie Melinda and Brandie are all together now in “Glory”.
The homegoing celebration for the late Mother Pearlie Mae Wells will be held Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 11:00am from the sanctuary of Union Cathedral.
Bishop Wade S. McCrae is the Pastor. Bishop Cessor Houston, Sr. will officiate.
Burial will follow at the Riverview Memorial Gardens.
