Mother Jewell Roberts Jones

September 25, 1929 — November 13, 2015

Mother Jewell Roberts Jones was born September 25, 1929 in Barney, GA, to the late Mrs. Carrie Roberts and the late Rev. Lynn Roberts.

Mother Jewell Jones was a woman of worth and beauty. She had the inner beauty that only comes from Christ. She used her creativity and sense of style to create beauty in her life and the lives of her loved ones. As the oldest mother in the church, Mother Jones was one of the matriarchs of New Life Ministries where she served along with the R.O.S.A. Ministry.

And the Lord knew Mother Jewell Jones, for He stayed right by her side; through the years of joy and plenty, pain and sorrow, hurt and pride. The Lord helped her raise a family, given courage to go on; blessed her heart with hope and patience, lent her strength when hers was gone.

Now her voice is raised in worship, casting out all doubts and fears; for on Friday, November 13, the Master whispered, “Peace be still”. You have fought a good fight, You have finished your course, You have kept the faith: Daughter of Virtue, You excellest them all.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: John E. Jones, Sr.; step-mother: Linnie Goss Roberts; three children: John E. Jones, Jr., Dr. Rufus Jones, Sr., and Charles H. Jones; two sisters: Obildra Cooper and Mary F. Williams; three brothers: Marion Causey, Lynn Roberts, Jr., and Isaac Roberts; grandparents: Ike and Aldonia Roberts and Dennis and Francis Hankins; and one son-in-law: Willie Wiseman.

Mother Jewell Roberts Jones leaves her legacy of faith and love to her eight children: Mary E. Wiseman of Valdosta, GA, Lee M. Barron (Don) of Valdosta, GA, Emma J. Holden (Jeffery) of Chesapeake, VA, Lynn L. Jones (Brenda) of Valdosta, GA, Samuel L. Jones, Sr. of Decatur, GA, David E. Jones, Sr. (Sallie) of Shiloh, GA, Edward J. Jones (Sylvia) of Germany, and Derrick Jones (Tonya) of Douglas, GA; a sister: Carrie M. McKinney of Valdosta, GA; two brothers: Joseph Roberts and Demetrius Roberts (Patricia) both of Valdosta, GA; two sisters-in-law: Mary Lee Jones and Sarah Roberts; brother-in-law: Elder Bartow Williams (Lucille); daughters-in-law: Bernadette Jones and Rita Jones; Thirty grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren whom she adored; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
