Mother Ludell Smith

May 23, 1933 — July 12, 2016

Ludell Paulk Smith was born May 23, 1933 in Coffee County, GA, to the late Timothy Paulk and the late Adel Thomas Paulk.

A native of Douglas, GA, Mother Ludell Smith was a virtuous woman who served God with all of her heart, mind, and soul. She sought daily His will for her life and followed His ways. As a nursing assistant, she worked willingly with her hands until her retirement. She girded herself with honor and patience. Mother Ludell Smith had quite a personality—comic relief and jokester. Her laughter was a source of joy to all who knew her.

Given to hospitality, she was a giver of herself and considered her own desires last. She stretched out her hand to the poor and reached out to the needy. Mother Ludell Smith created an inviting atmosphere of warmth and love for her family and friends. She used hospitality to minister to those around her. She taught her children the ways of the Father, nurtured them with the love of Christ, and trained them in the way they should go.

A heartwarming smile was hers until Tuesday, July 12, 2016, when God looked around His garden and He found an empty place; He then looked down upon the earth and saw her precious face.

In addition to her parents, Mother Ludell Smith is preceded in death by her husband: John C. Smith.

She lives her legacy of love to her children: Taffia Hunt, John Ellis Dixion, and Dororthy Lange (Owen); one sister: Patricia Copeland (Leroy); grandchildren whom she adored: John (John John) Dixion, Joshua Hunt (Kissie), Ashley Hunt, April Burton, and Roberto Hunt (Cheryl); a devoted nephew: Hosea Paulk; devoted cousin: Eva Thomas; loyal friends: Susan Hurley( who always made her smile), Avetta Jackson, Rosetta Baker, and Robert Hunt; and a host of great-grandchildren; loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
