Mother Mary Yvonne Mincey

Mary Yvonne Mincey was born September 21, 1946, in Clinton, South Carolina, to the late Robert and Evangeline Jones.

Mother Mincey was a woman of dedication with a deep sense of commitment. She created an inviting atmosphere of warmth and love for her family and friends. She used hospitality to minister to those around her. She served her family and all who knew her with a gentle and loving spirit. A retired school teacher, she nurtured the children in her care with love, disciplined them with care and wisdom, and trained them in the way they should go. She opened her mouth with wisdom. Strength and honor were her clothing and kindness was her law.

Her family will always remember her special smile, caring heart and warm embrace. She was different, unique in a thousand ways.

Mother Mincey served God with all of her heart, mind, and soul. She sought His will for her life and followed His ways and did not dwell on those things that did not please Him.

On Saturday, November 14, 2015, God put His arms around her and lifted her unto eternal rest.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister: Safiya Bukihari; and two brothers: Ivan Jones and Joe Nathan Jones.

Mother Mincey leaves cherished memories to her husband of 43 years, Curtis Mincey of Valdosta, GA; three children: Yolanda Mincey of Valdosta, GA, Curtis Mincey, and Asandoh Jones of New York, New York; two sisters: Lavella Jones and Patricia Khaliq both of New York, New York; four brothers: Robert C. Jones (Ophelia) of North Carolina, Marcellus Jones, Theodore Jones, Osie Jones, all of New York City; two grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; her St. Peter Church of God by Faith in Jesus Christ church family; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The celebration of life for the late Mother Mary Yvonne Mincey will be held Friday, November 20, 2015 at 11:00am in the Godfrey Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
