Mr. Nathaniel “Nate” Burgman,age 62, a long time resident of the Bemiss Community and recently, a renewed born again Christian, passed at his residence on Friday October 1, 2010, after a brief illness.
He was born April 16, 1948 to the parentage of the late Charles O. and Ora Lee Burgman of Valdosta, GA. He received his formal education in the Lowndes County School System, graduating from Westside High School in 1966. He attended the Fort Valley State College, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
Nathaniel entered the United States Army, served over two years in Germany, and received an Honorable Discharge in 1976. After returning to the United States, he attended the Valdosta Technology Institute, earning a degree in Informational Technology.
Even though his true passion was farming and sharing his produce with others, he was employed by the following businesses: First State Bank, Valdosta, GA, Data Processing, 15 years; First Bank of the Villages, Lady Lake, FL, Assistant Vice President, Data Processing Operations, 7 years; Lowe’s Distribution Center, Valdosta, GA, Clerk, 13 years.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife of forty years, Mrs. Gwendolyn S. Burgman; three beloved sons: Mr. Tony E. Burgman (Rhonda), Mr. Edward L. Burgman, and Mr. Michael D. Burgman, all of Valdosta, GA; three daughters: Mrs. Alexis Finniessee (Cody), Augusta, GA, Miss Natalie Burgman and Miss Perkoshia E. Smith, both of Valdosta, GA,; two sisters: Mrs. Mary Alice Harris, Valdosta, GA, and Mrs. Dorothy Burris (Alton), Fitzgerald, GA,; five brothers: Mr. Lee Burgman, and Mr. Ronald Burgman (Rachael) all of Newark, NJ, Dr. Lewis Burgman (Carolyn) of Greenboro, NC, Mr. Lawson Burgman (Clara), and Mr. Wayne Burgman, all of Valdosta, GA,; mother-in-law: Mrs. Marie Sledge of Macon, GA; three aunts: Mrs. Maggie Carter and Mrs. Lillian Hart, both of Valdosta, GA, and Mrs. Nancy Raines of Newark, NJ; one uncle: Mr. Freddy Jackson (Louvenia) of Valdosta, GA; fourteen grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and sorrowing friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Nathaniel Burgman will be on Saturday October 09, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the sanctuary of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1051 Howell Road, Valdosta, GA. Dr. William C. Morgan is pastor and Dr. Charles E. Vinson, Sr. will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Greater Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Floral contributions will be accepted or you may make a donation to the Freddie Drye/Dorothy Moran Scholarship Fund or the Mount Calvary Building Fund, 3798 White Water Road, Valdosta, GA 31601, in memory of Mr. Nathaniel Burgman.
