Mr. Nathaniel Golden was born on October 18, 1924, in Valdosta, Georgia, to the parents of the late William and Cora Golden.
At an early age, Nathaniel was baptized into membership of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Valdosta, GA. He later joined the United States Army, serving in the mounted Calvary and as a Longshoreman during World War II. After returning home, his employment history included becoming a truck driver for several local companies: A.S. Pendleton, MR and R Trucking, Brown Trucking and Yellow Freight.
He was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday, November 13, 2016, at the Sacred Journey Hospice in McDonough, GA.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of forty-two years, Bernice Johnson Golden on January 27, 1990.
Nathaniel’s memory will always be cherished by his loving and devoted family; his daughter: Robin Simmons and son-in-law, Craig of Stockbridge, GA; two grandchildren: Nathaniel “Nate” and Nia Simmons also of Stockbridge, GA; a devoted friend of many years: Ms. Eloise Pierce of Valdosta, GA.
Also mourning his loss are three sisters-in-law: Mazella Franklin and Carolyn Wright both of Jacksonville, FL and Jennifer Bradley of Valdosta, GA; two brothers-in-law: Willie Mack Johnson of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Terry Johnson of Tallahassee, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The celebration of life for the late Mr. Nathaniel Golden will be held Friday, November 18, 2016, at 11:00am in the Godfrey Funeral Home Chapel.
Bishop Trey Wright will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
