Nicholas Alexander Tolliver was born in Snellville, GA, on November 27, 1987 to Kevin and Cheryl Tolliver. He passed away on July 21, 2018. In 2005, he moved to Savannah where he attained a degree in Animation from the Savannah College of Arts and Design. He remained in Savannah for the next thirteen years, where he made it his home and found a community that he loved.
He will be remembered for his silly faces, how he would take a blanket from his siblings only to give it back a minute later, his all-black wardrobe paired with his love of the color yellow, his encyclopedic knowledge of superheroes, anime, and Harry Potter. He was a proud Slytherin, by the way. He was talented and versatile, with artistic talents that included drawing, animating, and writing. He was also a musician in Savannah’s underground music scene, and he enjoyed writing music for and performing with his band, Hyaena. He was a voracious reader and knew random facts about a wide variety of seemingly unrelated subjects. He was loving person who held so much love for his family and friends.
Nicholas is survived by his parents: Kevin Leonadis and Cheryl Gatewood (M.D.) Tolliver of Valdosta, GA; his sisters: Destiny Tolliver, M.D., of Cambridge, MA, and Taylor Tolliver of Valdosta, GA; his brother: Kevin Paul (Melinda) Tolliver of Washington, D.C.; his grandmother: Mrs Minnie Gatewood of Valdosta, GA; his aunts and uncles: Delores (Donald) Knuckle of Stone Mountain, GA, Sara Bell of Valdosta, GA, Paul Kenneth (Jackie) Gatewood of Stone Mountain, GA, Adolphe Gatewood Jr of Valdosta, GA, Kathy (Dana) Torrence of Potomac, MD; his great aunts: Johnnie Ruth Hunter of Valdosta, GA, Dorothy Cambridge of Valdosta, GA, Yvonne (Samuel) Donahoo of Bingham Farms, MI, Dorothy Cleveland of Southfield, MI, and Mary Rivers of East Pointe, MI; great uncles: John (Nannie) Gatewood of Fayetteville, GA, Wallace Gatewood of Baltimore, MD, Clifton Gatewood of San Jose, CA; and a host of cousins, extended family and friends.
