Ms. Odessa Dillard

Odessa Dillard was born July 18, 1935 in Pelham, Georgia, to the late Arnold Dillard and the late Etta Mae Collins.

Ms. Odessa was a beautiful person. There was sunshine in her smile. One could find both hope and courage just by looking in her eyes. It appeared the light of heaven shone from her face.

Ms. Odessa was a living example of James 1:19, “...let everyone be slow to speak, quick to listen…” She opened her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue was the law of kindness. There was such a peace about her. Along with her quiet nature was a quiet spirit. She was watchful over her affairs and her family whom she loved and adored greatly. Ms. Odessa was truly a blessing, a gift, and one of God’s greatest treasures.

On Wednesday, February 25, 2015, God looked around His garden and found an empty place, He then looked down upon the earth and saw Ms. Odessa’s precious face. He put His arms around her and lifted her unto eternal rest.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Odessa is preceded in death by her sisters: Etta Mae McDuffie, Inez Dillard, Nezby Edwards, Georgia Newkirk and Hattie D. Moore; and her brother: Artis Dillard.

Ms. Odessa leaves to cherish her memories, three god-children: Jeanenett Hieman of Hollywood, FL, Velvis Thomas of Gainesville, FL and Chriee Seatie of Valdosta, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The celebration of life for the late Ms. Odessa Dillard will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00am in the Godfrey Funeral Home Chapel.
