Pastor Natha Lee “Madea” Thomas, age 82, of Valdosta, GA, was born on January 17, 1931, in Lowndes County, GA, to the late Mrs. Hattie and Perry Thomas.
On September 19, 1952, she married her long time friend, Frank E. Thomas. To this union, nine children were born.
Pastor Natha Lee Thomas was a very caring, giving, and loving person. She was a missionary who did street ministry in the Hudson Dockett and Ora Lee West community for over thirty years. Until her health failed, she pastored The Love of God Temple for forty plus years. She was extremely fond of and had a loving heart for children of all ages. She was known as the “Frozen Cup Lady of Woodgate”. Pastor Natha’s favorite saying was “Pray more and get closer to God”.
Pastor Natha Lee Thomas, fondly known as “Madea”, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 1, 2013.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Frank E. Thomas, Sr.; two daughters: Ester Pearl Thomas and Nadine Thomas and one brother: McKinley Thomas.
Pastor Natha Lee Thomas leaves her legacy of love and heart of giving to four generations: Her seven children: Earl Thomas, Sr., Calvin Thomas, Joy Lynn Thomas, Deborah Davis (Timothy) all of Atlanta, GA; Rudine Miller (Charles) of Valdosta, GA; Frank Thomas, Jr., of Los Angeles, CA; and Dr. Irvin Thomas (Lisa) of Bowie, MD; one sister: Pastor Marilyn Thomas (Willie) of Valdosta; and one brother: Johnny Thomas (Catherine) of Denver, CO; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; a God daughter: Marion Wells; a daughter-in-law: Carolyn Washington; a best friend: Mrs. Beulah Thompson; and good friends: Evang. Susie Griffin, Bro. and Sis. Woods, all of Valdosta; members of her church; The Love of God Temple; a host of other relatives; community friends, and many others whom she touched with her strong, God-fearing life and humorous ways.
The homegoing celebration Pastor Natha Lee Thomas will be held Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 1:00pm from the sanctuary of Crossing Jordan Missionary Baptist Church. Dr. Ronnie J. Mathis is the pastor. Bishop Clarence Wells will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Public viewing will be held Friday, July 5 from 12:00pm - 8:oopm at Godfrey Funeral Home.
