Randolph Arthur Darling

November 12, 1938 — April 21, 2017

Randolph A. Darling, Jr., fondly known as “string bean” was born November 12, 1938, in Miami, FL to the late Randolph A. Darling, Sr. and the late Viola Farrington Darling.

It is said that a real man values integrity, loyalty, honesty and honor. Randolph was a man of great strength, who gained great respect and honor among all those who knew him. He was a guiding post full of wisdom and words of encouragement. He chose to offer support to numerous relatives, an abundance of friends who he considered family, and the community at large. When not taking care of the needs of others, Randolph could be found fishing or drag racing his RC cars.

A real man provides for his family emotionally, mentally and financially. After returning from serving his country in the United States Army, to ensure the needs of his family was met, Randolph remained employed for 45years and retired with the Dade County Public School System after 15years of service. As a man of prayer and insight, Randolph was a devoted husband, wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who sowed wisdom, love and much laughter into his family. He was ever ready with a word of good cheer to bring back a smile and banish a tear.

Simply put: God took the strength of a mountain, the calm of a quiet sea, the generous soul of nature, the power of the eagle’s flight, the faith of a mustard seed, the patience of eternity, the depth of a family need. He combined these qualities with nothing more to add. He knew His masterpiece was complete and so He called it Randolph A. Darling Jr.—A Real Man.

On Friday, April 21, 2017, Randolph transitioned from labor to reward.

He leaves to mourn his passing, yet rejoice his life, a loving and devoted wife of 54 years Mrs. Vivian Fox Darling; three children: Larossi W. Fox (Cassandra), Angela Darling-Miller (Artis) and Randy Darling (Shenika), all of Miami, FL; four sisters: Gloria Darling of Miami, FL, Alma Flucas (Frank) of Atlanta, GA, Gerri Darling-Martin of Miami, FL and Linda Flowers (Leroy) of Niceville, FL; five brothers: Leroy Darling of Ocala, FL, Algeneal Darling (Annie) of Miami, FL, Jimmy Darling of Ocala, FL, Alton Darling of Gainesville, FL and Carlton Darling (Terri Burke) of Miami, FL; three aunts: Beatrice Mencey of Miami, FL, Carolyn Dawkins of Miami, FL and Ollie Bowie of Hollywood, FL; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
