Valdosta

Retired SSGT Frederick L. Bivins I (USAF) was born September 23, 1957, to the late Jack Johnson and Verdell Bivins.

Frederick attended the Valdosta City Schools in Valdosta, GA and graduated in 1977 from Valdosta High School. After graduating, Frederick answered the call of service for his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force and served for   several years before retiring as an E5 Staff Sergeant. He lived a life that demonstrated the values of an Airmen. He loved his family with all his heart and shared a great love for his friends. Frederick would always express his love by telling his family and friends “I love you man.”

Frederick loved basketball and was an avid player. He won a championship with the U.S.A.F. Basketball Team. He also had a great love for football and enjoyed cheering on his favorite NFL team, the Dallas Cowboys, during football season. Other past time activities included spending time with his family and friends.

On Monday, February 3, 2020 Frederick received his final flight call and transitioned from his earthly labor to rest.

In addition to his parents, the late Jack Johnson and Verdell Bivins, he is preceded in death by his grandmother: Alice Bivins.

Frederick leaves to celebrate his life and cherish precious memories to his wife: Beverly Bivins; his children: Frederick Bivins II (Jacqueline) of Richmond, TX, Chris Bivins (Yvette) of Alexander, VA, and Karon Massey of Valdosta, GA; six grandchildren: Frederick III, Kennedy, Theodore, Leila, Darius, and Brody; two brothers: George Bivins (Ceria) and James Bivins (Peggy) of Valdosta, GA; three sisters in-law; five brothers in-law; special friends: James Nelson, Robert Brown, and Cliff Bradley, all of Valdosta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

The Celebration of Life for the late  Mr. Frederick L. Bivins I will be Saturday, February 8, 2020 1:00 p.m., Greater Mt. Carmel Ministry HOGSIC, 1106 Lake Park Road, Valdosta, GA.

David M. Northcutt is the Sr. Pastor and Pastor Oliver Bradley will officiate.

Public viewing, Friday, February 7, 2020, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Godfrey Funeral Home.

Interment, Tallahassee National Cemetery, 5015 Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee, FL 32311.
