Rickey Wright was born October 24, 1958 in Valdosta, GA to the late Florence Brown Wright and Wilbur Wright, Sr., whom he loved and adored.
Rickey was full of life and the family comedian. In his presence was guaranteed laughter, smiles, and a good time. He had the gift of gab and could talk a mile a minute. He knew how to bring sunshine to a cloudy day. Though he was loving, caring, and thoughtful, he could be very bossy. Rickey had no problem sharing his thoughts and opinions. Everything about Rickey was “Just Wright”.
On Friday, May 22, 2015, Rickey moved from his earthly home.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents: Calvin Wright, Sr., Katie Penny Wright, Joe Brown, and Ollie Wade Brown; one brother in-law: Charles Stansell; and one sister in-law: Brenda Wright.
He leaves to cherish his memories, one daughter: Kela Tyronsie Wright of West Palm Beach, FL; two grandsons: Keon Lewis Wright of West Palm Beach, FL and “CJ” of Valdosta, GA; six sisters: Mary Ann Stansell of Sacramento, CA, Ora Mae Price (Kevin), Katie Mae Holloway (Wesley), Florence Wright (Robert), Chareyes E. Jones (Sedrick), and Cheryl A. Pinkney (Maurice), all of Valdosta, GA; two brothers: James E. Wright, Sr. of Valdosta, GA and Wilbur Wright, Jr. (Tracy) of Bellville, FL; one special aunt: Queen Brown; one special friend: Gayle Lawson; and host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
The celebration of life for the late Mr. Rickey L. Wright will be held Sunday, May 31, 2015 at 3:00pm from the sanctuary of Union Cathedral.
Bishop Wade S. McCrae will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive MBC Cemetery, Hahira, GA.
Public viewing will be held Friday, May 29, 2015 from 10:00am - 8:00pm and Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 10:00am - 6:00pm at Godfrey Funeral Home.
