Robert Lee Hargett, Sr., was born November 27, 1946, in Valdosta, GA, to the late Unessee Hargett and the late Ada Lee Smith Hargett.

Robert received his education in the Lowndes County School System where he attended Westside High School. He was employed by Dowling Bag Company and Roadway Express. Robert was a selfless man of integrity and no matter the role he played in your life on his word you could depend. As described by his family, he was a great leader, intellectual and a great man of wisdom. He honored Christ by being a faithful man of God. Indeed, he was an inspiration to all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister: Evelyn Hargett Murray Bruce.

Robert Lee Hargett, Sr. leaves to celebrate and to cherish precious memories, his wife: Ethelrene Hargett; seven children: Michael Thomas (Ling Liu), Elder Angela Hargett Wright (Wallace), Bernie Gaines (Barbara), Robert Hargett Jr. (Bernita), David Hargett, Keith Hargett, and Stephanie Hargett; three sisters: Leila Hargett, DeLois Hargett, and Grace White; six Brothers: Jesse Hargett (Mary), David Hargett, Unessee Hargett Jr. (Thelma), Dr. Lewis Hargett (AvaDawn), Willie Hargett (Annette) and Grant Hargett (Terri); eight Grandchildren: Walik Hargett, Jasmine Hargett, Marshon Jelks, Michaela Hargett, Justin Hargett, Aiden Hargett, Brandon Mohead, and Derrell Neloms; four Sisters-in- law: Lorena Williams (Herman), Gloria Roundtree, Barbara-Jean Roundtree (Eddie) and Eula Roberson (Billy); two Brothers-in-law: John Thomas (Beverly) and Ben Murray-Bruce; Aunt: Katrina Smith Hargrett; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Graveside Service for the late Mr. Robert Lee Hargett, Sr., will be Saturday, July 11, 2020, 12:00 p.m. at the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 3835 White Water Road, Valdosta.

Pastor J. Bernard Braswell, II will officiate.

Public viewing will be Friday, July 10, 2020, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

All those who wish to pay their respects in person must wear a mask during visitation and at graveside services.

Sympathy may be expressed by signing the on online registry at www.godfreyfuneralhome.net.

Due to COVID-19, Godfrey Funeral Home will be enforcing social distancing and following the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines.
