It is with deepest sympathy Godfrey Funeral Home announces Mr. Robin Van Williams, Sr., age 64, of Valdosta, GA, departed this life Thursday, December 17, 2020.
Robin Van Williams, Sr. was born on November 2, 1956 in the state of Missouri, to the late Helen L. Williams and the late Roy Van Williams.
Robin was a loving and caring man who showed himself friendly to all. He never met a stranger. He was a loyal and dedicated friend to many. Because of his loyalty and strong work ethics it is no wonder that during his younger years, he enlisted in the United States Army where he received badges and medals to include: Sharp Shooter Qualification Badge (M-16) and a Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged after many years of serving his country. Robin’s life was full of loving deeds, laughter and love. He was a man of patience and understanding. His family will always remember his special smile, and caring heart he was always willing to give.
On December 17, 2020 this soldier fought his last fight and completed his earthly course and received his final orders to rest.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters: Lavoria Williams Townsend and Gwynette Williams.
Robin leaves to celebrate his life and to cherish precious memories to his children Redelda Sawyer of Chapel Hill, NC, Felicia House of Valdosta, GA and Robin Van Williams, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; his three sisters: Phillis Bonner Welcome of Valdosta, GA, Deloris Kaigler Williams of Jasper, FL and Sandra Ramsey (B.J.) of Atlanta, GA; one brother: William Bonner (Yvonne) of Valdosta, GA; five loving grandchildren: Michah J. Sawyer, Justyn Sawyer, Somaya A. Robinson, Herschel L. Robinson and Kyrion Gray; his three aunts: Juanita Jackson of Peekskill, NY, Francis Williams of Valdosta, GA and Betty Anderson of Valdosta, GA; one sister-in-law; one brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Celebration of Life graveside service for the late Mr. Robin Van Williams, Sr., will be Tuesday, December 29, 2020, 11:00 a.m., at Pallbearers Cemetery, 2660 Riverside Road, Valdosta.
Public viewing will be Monday, December 29, 2020, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Godfrey Funeral Home.
All those who wish to pay their respect in person must wear a mask during visitation and at the gravesite.
