Rosa Mae Mitchell was born to Mrs. Aretha Williams and the late Mr. Thomas Miller, Sr., May 24, 1955, in Valdosta, Georgia.
She was educated in the Lowndes County Schools and was a proud member of the 1973 Westside High School graduating class.
Rosa Mae was a vibrant, energetic woman, full of life. Her warmth and energy could be felt when she entered a room. She was different, unique and one of a kind. Her laughter was a source of joy and her smile was a source of comfort. She was ‘Ms. Personality’: Walk, talk, smile, charm, love—personality, with a great big heart.
There was love in everything she put her hands to do. She was a seamstress and interior decorator like no other. Through her designs, it was evident, she was a woman of class and style. Rosa Mae had lots of love to give. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren whom she adored.
Sunsets come, and sunsets go, some things in life we’ll never know; but one day in that by and by, we’ll face the Master, and then we’ll understand why Rosa Mae was granted release from pain, sorrow and tears, Saturday, April 4, 2015.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her grandmother: Verlee Williams.
Rosa Mae leaves her legacy of love to her children: Stacy L. Hargett of Phoenix, AZ, Anthony L. Hargett of Centerville, GA, Craig L. Davis (Torreya) of Tallahassee, FL, Devin N. Mitchell, Cody J. Mitchell and Paisley G. Mitchell, all of Valdosta, GA; her husband: Emory C. Mitchell; her mother: Aretha Rayam; her three sisters: Jewell Miller, Cynthia Millan, and Laverne McDuffie, all of Valdosta, GA; her two brothers: Thomas Miller, Jr. (Betty) and Reginald Pierce (Sandra), both of Valdosta, GA; sixteen grandchildren; four sisters in-law; five brothers in-law; special nieces: Africa, Kizzy, Brandy, Kenyatta and Ebony; special friend: Demetrice Cherry; two close friends: Pansy Stone and Jeannie Flanders; three god-daughters: Leah Bradley, Wanda Browning and Berta Browning; one god-son: Darrin Richardson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
