Roselle Roberson Baker

Roselle Roberson Baker, 90, entered her heavenly home on Saturday evening, June 1, 2019.

On October 3, 1928, Roselle was born to the late Willie and Mary Roberson in Forest Glen, GA.

Roselle attended Gillespie Selden Institute of Cordele, GA and was a 1945 graduate of Dasher High School.

On March 24, 1946, she married James T. Baker. They remained married for 59 years until his death in 2005.

At the age of 16, she joined Braswell Temple COGIU under the leadership of Rev. James Braswell, Sr. where she remained for over 64 years. She followed the will of God and joined Grace Outreach Ministry in 2013. She served as church mother until her health declined. She truly loved her pastor who is also her nephew.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by one son: Theron; two daughters: Barbara Ann and Chanel; two brothers: Elvin Roberson and Willie Roberson; and two sisters: Ollie Mae Pauls and Eloise Roberson, who died at birth.

“Mama Roselle”, as she was affectionately known to many, is survived by her devoted daughters: Patricia Sirmans of Valdosta, GA and Jacqueline Willis (Tim) of Dickinson, TX. She also leaves to cherish her memories, nine grandchildren: Tara, FeFe, Larry, Quincy, Shebelya, Kylee, Byron, Carlo and Carlyn; eighteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her granddaughters-in-love: Tammy, Melanie and Rikesha and her grandsons-in-love: Marcus, Alvin and Wiley. She is also survived by one brother: Blanchard Roberson (Shirlene) of Lansing, MI and one sister: Mary Scott (William) of Willingboro, NJ; her sisters-in-love: Carolean Roberson, Hazel Roberson, Shirlene Roberson, Dorothy Nelson, Mary Jones, Lucille Jones, Martha Smith and Christine O’Neal in addition to her many nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends.

The Celebration of Life for the late Roselle Roberson Baker will be Saturday, June 8, 2019, 3:00 p.m. from the sanctuary of New Life Ministries, 5651 Perimeter Road, Valdosta, GA.

James Bernard Braswell, II is the Senior Pastor and Minister Samuel Roberson is the Eulogist.

Interment, Sunset Hill Cemetery, Valdosta, GA.

Public viewing, Friday, June 7, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Godfrey Funeral Home.
