Mrs. Rosetta Jones Black, age 95, of Valdosta, GA, passed this life on Sunday September 19, 2010 at the Holly Hill Nursing Home, Valdosta. Mrs. Rosetta was born on May 18, 1915 to the late Mr. Bennie Jones and the late Lottie Washington Jones in Adel, GA. She was married to the late Peter Roe Black. To this union, six children were born: Betty Jean, Lucille, George, Frances, Charlie, and JoeAnn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Jones; her husband, Mr. Peter Roe Black; one son, George Edward Black; and sisters, Sussie Edmonson, Ophelia Jones Queen, Julia Mae Jones Freeman, and Laura Jones.
She leaves to cherish her memory six beautiful children:
Betty Jean Yearby and Charlie (Pat) of Valdosta, GA, Lucille Carter and Frances (Joseph) Bell of Miami, FL, JoeAnn (Johnny) Moore of Oakridge, TN and Bennie Franklin (Faith) Black of Albany, GA; one daughter in-law, Brendolyn Black of Las Vegas, NV; two sisters: Bennie Mae Jordan of Dayton, OH, and Lottie Mae Gill of New York; one brother, Frank (Martha) Jones of Valdosta, GA; 21 Grandchildren, 40 Great-Grandchildren, 15 Great great-grandchildren, 1 Great great great-grandchild, a very special friend, Mrs. Zella Major, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be on Saturday September 25, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the sanctuary of Woodlawn Forrest Church of Christ, 1515 N. Forrest Street, Valdosta. Minister Leroy Butler will officiate and interment will follow in the Antioch Cemetery. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.godfreyfuneralhome.net. Godfrey Funeral Home, LLC is in charge of the arrangements.
