A Time to be Born: Ruby Nell Simmons was born on July 27, 1955 to the late A.J. Mathis Sr. and the late Lillie Mae Mathis.
A Time to Learn: Ruby received her education at Queen of Peace Catholic School and the Lanier County School System.
A Time to Live: Ruby was employed with Levi Strauss Company for over five years and later became employed at Crestwood Nursing Home. She was a faithful CNA for over 13 years.
A Time to Serve: Ruby joined the New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Naylor, GA at an early age under the leadership of the late Rev. M.J. Hammonds.
Throughout her life, Ruby always had a special way of touching the lives of so many people. She was so full of life, free-spirited, and had a smile that brought peace to many.
Ruby leaves to forever cherish her memories: three wonderful children: Terence B. Williams, Teresa N. Edwards (Willie James) and Tabitha Cason, all of Valdosta, GA; two loving brothers: Nathaniel Mathis of Naylor, GA and Willie C. Mathis of Lakeland, GA; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two special aunts: Ethel Mae Sirmons of Naylor, GA and Betty Westbrook of Atlanta, GA; aunts: Rosetta Mathis of Naylor, GA, Mercie Mathis of Valdosta, GA and Coneatha Sirmons of St. Petersburg, FL; three uncles: Henry L. Sirman (Lillian) of Louisville, GA, David Sirmons (Hattie) of St. Petersbug, FL and Willie B. Mathis of Valdosta, GA; one loving devoted granddaughter: Danikah Cason; special grandson: Kenneth Harvey III; four special devoted cousins: Betty Mann, Josephine Lane, Maxine Robinson and Annette Robinson; two special nieces: Queen Mathis and Tangela Mathis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The homegoing celebration for the late Mrs. Ruby Nell Simmons will be held Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 2:00pm from the sanctuary of New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Naylor, GA.
Rev. Lorenzo Williams will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Charles Knight Cemetery.
