Mrs. Ruth Beatrice Marshall

September 12, 1925 — May 23, 2017

Ruth Beatrice Marshall was born September 12, 1925, in Perry, Georgia to the late Julius Newberry and the late Beatrice Haliburton Shiver. She was proud member of Dasher High School graduating Class of 1945. Ruth was married for 53 years to the late Rev. Jessie Marshall, Jr.

Mother Ruth Marshall was a lifelong devout Christian and member of Thomas Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Her motto was “I can’t make everyone love me, but I can love everyone, because Jesus is love and I want to see Him one day.”

On Tuesday, May 23, the Lord gently declared to Mother Ruth Marshall, “Well done, good and faithful servant; enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”

In addition to her parents and her husband the late Rev. Jessie Marshall, Jr., Mother Ruth Marshall is preceded in death by one daughter: Rita Marshall; two of sisters: Violet Ray and Rosa Mae Williams; two brothers: Collin Newberry and Lester Newberry; a host of her aunts and uncles: John Robert Newberry, Charlie Christopher Columbus Newberry, Sr., Virgil Lou Newberry, Fisherman Peter Newberry, Laura Newberry Garmon, Mattie Newberry Ames, Nancy Evergreen Newberry Fuller, Lucindy Newberry Ball, Sarah Hattie Newberry Jackson, and Carrie Newberry Lot.

Mother Ruth Beatrice Marshall, a devoting, affectionate and praying mother to all is survived by 5 Sons: Tony Marshall (Subrena), Herman Marshall (Vernita), Richard Marshall (Veronica), Joe Marshall (Sandra), and Jessie Marshall III (Carolyn); 8 Daughters: Gail Lane (Willie), Mary Johns (Norman), Donnie Rowe (L.C.) Nancy Smith (Jerome), Antonette Sharp (Eric), Eleanor Marshall and Marie Marshall; 1 Brother-in-law: Melvin Marshall (Ginny); her 28 Grandchildren whom she adored: Eric Atley (Rita), Demetra Antley, Ursula Antley, Mark Antley, Willie Antley, Jr., Richard Marshall, Jr., Marcus Marshall (Angie), Yolanda Rowe (Ralph), Demeco Rowe (Kim), Renee Thompson (Chad), Joe Marshall, Jr., Demarcus Marshall (Regina), Dena Brooks (Chris), Kelisha Marshall (Greg), Taryn Marshall, Brandon Marshall, Jerome Smith, Jr., Deidre James (Ralph), Jason Smith, Jessica Marshall, Natasha Marshall, Toya Turley, Tamekia Turley, Kia Wilson (Armani), Daniel Lane, and Tony Marshall, Jr; 45 Great-Grandchildren; 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The celebration of life for the late Mrs. Ruth Beatrice Marshall will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 11:00am from the sanctuary of Morning Star Baptist Church.

Dr. William C. Morgan is the pastor.

Rev. Willie Simon will officiate.

Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Public viewing will be held Friday, May 26, 2017 from 10:00am - 8:00pm at Godfrey Funeral Home.
