Mr. Samuel Lee Anderson was born February 10, 1946, in Pompano Beach, Florida to the late Edgar Anderson and the late Annie Mae Anderson.

“Sam”, also fondly called “Big A”, received his education in the school of Broward County. He played as point guard in basketball, the captain of the football team and all star running back. He graduated from Blanche Ely High School, June 10, 1965, in Pompano Beach, FL. On May 25, 1970, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education from Bethune Cookman College in Daytona Beach, FL. “Sam” was a hard working disciplined man, his employment career included: Physical Education Teacher in Fort Lauderdale, FL; Assistant Regional Director of Joint Action in Community Service in Atlanta, GA; Training Coordinator with School Drop Out Programs and a Construction Worker, Pompano Beach, FL; Substitute Teacher at Valdosta and Lowndes County Schools; Residential Advisor of Brunswick Job Corp, Brunswick, GA; Valdosta Correction Officer at Lowndes State Prison form 1990 until retirement in 2009; and South Georgia Medical Center as a Security Guard. He also received several certificates and awards of appreciation for his attendance, loyalty, faithfulness and dedicated ethics.

In his infinite wisdom, God our Father, who doeth all things well and maketh all things work together for the good of those who love Him, called Samuel Lee Anderson from his labor on September 14, 2018 at South Georgia Medical Center.

In addition to his parents, his is preceded in death by his grandmother: Lucinda Peacox; two brothers: Robert Anderson and Ernest Anderson; and one sister: Clara Davis.

Samuel L. Anderson memories will always be cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Minister Betty Jean Anderson of Valdosta, GA; his three children: Antione Jones of Vero Beach, FL, Samuel Lee Anderson II of Valdosta, GA, and Curmit Sibert of Miami Beach, FL; one uncle: Mr. L. J. Anderson of Sandford, FL; seven brothers-in-law: Johnny McElhaney (Clereatha), Walter McElhaney (Delores), Jacob McElhaney, Pink McElhaney, Alton Singleton, Aaron McElhaney and Nathaniel Black; five sisters-in-law: Jennette Anderson, Delores McElhaney, Mae Frances Anderson, Tawanna McElhaney and Felecia McElhaney; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special friends: Jimmy and Johnny Lamar, Clarence Grisham, Lendwood Clark, Carlos Jones and George Copeland; and a host of extended family and friends

The Celebration of Life for the late Mr. Samuel Lee Anderson will be Saturday, September 22, 2018, 2:00 p.m., from the sanctuary of North Valdosta Church of God, 3492 Mt. Zion Church Road, Valdosta.

Bishop Johnny Quarterman is pastor and Elder Curtis H. Jones, Sr. will officiate.

Public viewing will Friday, September 21, 2018, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Godfrey Funeral Home.
