Sergeant Eddie Williams Jr.

Sergeant Eddie Williams Jr. was born January 6,1953, in Quitman, GA. He was raised in Valdosta, GA. He attended the county schools and graduated from Lowndes High School in 1972. He was drafted into the Army immediately after his high school graduation. He attended basic training at Fort Jackson South, SC. After basic training, he was assigned to Fort Stewart for Advance Individual Training. After completion of AIT, he was assigned overseas duty in Wuerzburg, Germany where he served for three years. He also served in Korea and in Desert Storm. He received several awards which included: The Army Commendation Medal, The Joint Service Achievement; 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Good Conduct, National Defense Service Medal, Markmanship Badge and the Army Service Ribbon. SGT Williams retired after serving his country for over twenty years. He was a dedicated employee of South Georgia Pecan Company until his health failed.

Eddie was known for his wonderful smile and his great generosity. He was a person filled with love for everyone and would help anyone.

The Lord quietly called him home, Tuesday, September 25, 2012.

He is preceded in death by his mother: Mrs. Reatha Mae Williams and a sister: Margaret L. Williams.

Sergeant Williams is survived by his loving daughter: Kiana Williams of Valdosta, GA; father: Eddie Williams, Sr. of Valdosta, GA; four sisters: Dorothy Sharpe (James), Connie White, Virginia Howard (Henry), all of Valdosta, GA and Vickie Roberson (Bishop Willie Roberson) of Lakeland, GA; two brothers: Clifford L. Williams and Jerry L. Williams (Stephanie) of Valdosta, GA; one aunt: Louise Walker of Valdosta, GA; a special friend: Ann McNeir; a family friend: Mattlyn Henley and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his Amvets Family.

The homegoing celebration for Sergeant Eddie Williams, Jr. will be held Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 11:00am from the sanctuary of Greater Pleasant Temple Church.

Pastor Bernard Robinson, Sr. will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Pallbearers-Jones Cemetery.
