Mrs. Tomeka Nicole Braswell Brown

April 21, 1977 — May 29, 2016

Tomeka Nicole Braswell Brown was born April 21, 1977 to William and Edwina Braswell of Valdosta, GA.

Tomeka was educated in the Valdosta City School System and graduated from Valdosta High School in 1995. She furthered her education at Valdosta Technical College and received her Associates Degrees in Medical Billing and Coding and Early Childhood Development.

On October 6, 2001, Tomeka married the love of her life, Mr. Samuel Brown, and through this union one child, Kyla Samone, was born.

She accepted Christ in her life at a very early age. She was the First Lady of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully on several auxiliaries. Tomeka was a true servant of God and remained faithful even through her illness. When she entered a room, you knew she was there, and her mere presence touched so many lives. She was friendly, as she never met a stranger. She had a strong, outgoing personality, and lived life to its fullest.

On Sunday, May 29, 2016, the Lord declared, “Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things...enter thou into the joy of thy Lord...Henceforth there is a laid up for you a crown of righteousness.”

Tomkea is preceded in death by her grandparents: Clara and James Braswell, Sr., Aretha and Rayford Monore, Sr.; and one uncle: Jimmie Braswell.

She leaves her legacy of faith and love to her devoted husband: Samuel Brown; her daughter whom she adored: Kyla Brown; loving parents: William and Edwina Braswell; her two sisters: Tangelia Monroe and Talisha Braswell (Kerry); six aunts: Vickie Gilliard (Sylvester), Sharon Monroe, Francis Monroe, Helen Daniels (Richard), Mary Savage (Charles), Linda Braswell; her seven uncles: Clarence Miller, Rodney Monroe, Rayford Monroe, Jr., Johnny Monroe, Anthony Wright, James Braswell, Jr. (Ruby), and Troy Braswell (Lisa); one special niece and nephew: Karmen and William; one sister-in-law: Shontell Brown; two brothers-in-law: Dwight Cooke (Debra) and Emmanuel Brown (Carla); her godmother: Joyce Moore; two special friends: Elaine Brown and NeKesha Poulian; and host of loving family and friends.

The celebration of life for the late Mrs. Tomeka Nicole Braswell Brown will be held Saturday, June 4, 2016, at 11:00am from the sanctuary of New Life Ministries.

Pastor James Bernard Braswell II will officiate.

Interment will follow in Pallbearers Cemetery.

Public viewing will be held Friday, June 3, 2016 from 10:00am - 8:00pm in the Godfrey Funeral Home Chapel
