Retired TSGT Jimmy Lee Wright was born May 23, 1956, to the late Louise Lane and was raised and adopted by the late James and Mamie Wright.
Jimmy attended the Valdosta School System and graduated from Valdosta High School in 1974, where he was a member of the band and the tennis team. After graduating, Jimmy answered the call of service for his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force and retired after twenty years of service. He lived a life that demonstrated the core values of an Airmen. Jimmy was a man of integrity, courage and conviction.
Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his family and loved his children. When not with them, he could be found doing one his favorite things, cooking. Jimmy was also an avid tennis and golf player. He was also a music lover, which is no wonder why he loved to DJ. In addition, computers and Sci-Fi were his world. In fact, he owned one of the first Apple brand computers and worked in Information Technology after retiring from the United States Air Force.
On Thursday, October 10, 2019, this airman transitioned to his heavenly flight.
In addition to his parents, the late Louise Lane, James and Mamie Wright, he is preceded in death by his grandmother: Beulah Wright.
Jimmy leaves to celebrate his life and to cherish precious memories, the mother of his children: Edith Wright; three children: Sherick Watkins (Jana) of San Antonia, TX, Tinika Mac Neil (Daniel) of Atlanta, GA and Xaviera Wright of Hampton, VA; one brother: Larry Lane of Frankfurt, Germany; aunts and uncles: Willie James Lane of Valdosta, GA, Molly Ponder of Huntsville, AL and Evelyn Ayinde of Valdosta, GA, eight grandchildren; a special grandchild: Danika Mac Neil of Atlanta, GA; three special friends: Brenda Walker of Valdosta, GA, Lawrence “PeeWee” Speed of Orlando, FL, and Gary Kelly of Tampa, FL; and a host of cousins, family and friends.
The Celebration of Life for the late Retired TSGT Jimmy Lee Wright will be Friday, October 18, 2019, 10:00 A.M., Godfrey Funeral Home Chapel, Valdosta, GA.
Pastor Matthew Loveday will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Tallahassee National Cemetery, Tallahassee, FL.
Public viewing will be Thursday, October 17, 2019, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Godfrey Funeral Home.
