Willie Jean Moore

April 18, 1945 — December 5, 2017

Willie “Jean” Moore was born April 18, 1945, in Valdosta, GA, to the late James Smith and the late Augusta Clark Smith.

“Jean” received her education in the Valdosta City School System. Recognizing her ability to relate well with people, she knew that being a CNA was indeed her calling. She was a CNA for over 20 years and was employed at Pruitt Health-Heritage House for 13 years until she became disabled.

Recognizing she needed a Savior, she received Christ at a very young age and was baptized. She was a faithful member of New Destiny Temple of Deliverance until her health failed. “Jean” was a kindhearted, loving, joyful and vibrant woman of God filled with a warm welcoming spirit.

On Tuesday, December 5, 2017, “Jean” was ready to be offered, and the time of her departure was at hand. For she fought a good fight and had finished her course. She kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for her a crown of righteousness.

In addition to her parents, James and Augusta Smith, she is preceded in death by three sisters: Mary Alice Register, Eloise Smith and Louise Smith.

Mourning her passing while yet rejoicing her life are her children: Henry Moore, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Connell Moore (Therisie) of Orlando, FL, Delbra Moore Major (Earnest) of Riverdale, GA, Shirley Kelly (Michael) of Valdosta, GA, and Latonya Salter (Tracy) of Quitman, GA; one god-daughter: Shantel Watson of Valdosta, GA; one sister: Corine Watson of Valdosta, GA; one brother: Willie James Smith, Sr. of Valdosta, GA; two aunts: Mattie Sparks of Miami, FL and Maggie Anderson of Detroit, MI; two special sisters-in-law: Darlene Smith and Dorothy Moore; two special friends: Rosetta Hampton Carrington and Juanita Banks; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, family and friends.
