Willie Mae Woods Jones

January 1, 1944 — September 22, 2018

Valdosta

On January 1, 1944, in Valdosta, GA, the late Persell Woods and the late Verneda Godfrey Woods brought in the New Year with a true blessing from God, a beautiful baby daughter. They chose to name her Willie Mae Woods.

Their beautiful baby girl developed into a beautiful young lady who would become the bride of the late Mr. L.C. Jones. Willie Mae Woods Jones was loving, friendly and kind, unique in a thousand ways. Always a lady seen and never heard, Willie Mae Jones was a sophisticated lady and a true “fashionista”. She possessed a heart of gold, always willing to help those in need with compassion and understanding. When not tending to those in need, Willie Mae could be found in the kitchen providing meals prepared with love for her family and friends.

In addition to her outer beauty, she possessed a inner beauty that could only come from the Lord. Willie Mae loved the Lord and her church. She was a faithful member and supporter of St. Mark MBC.

And the Lord, knew this precious daughter, for He’d stayed right by her side through the years of joy and plenty, pain and sorrow, hurt and pride. He blessed her heart with great hope and patience. On Saturday, September 22, when her strength was gone, the Lord granted her eternal rest.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: Mr. L. C. Jones; a son: Lamar Jones; one sister: Leila Akins; and three brothers: Edwards Woods, Levern Woods, and Willie James Springfield.

Willie Mae leaves to cherish her memories and to celebrate her life, her five children whom she adored: Charles (Rosetta) Jones of Pensacola, FL, Ernest (Kimberly) Jones, Mitchell Jones, Valerie Martin and Jarvis (Keira) Jones, all of Valdosta, GA; her two sisters: Frances (Sammie) Washington of Valdosta, GA and Evelyn James of Killeen, TX; her brother: Sherman Woods of Delmar, GA; her sixteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great-grandchildren; three sisters in-law; two brothers in-law; three special friends: Lucille Robinson, Mamie Jones and Johnsie Banks, all of Valdosta, GA; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her St. Mark MBC family.
